- Start early (around 7–8 AM) for easier parking and good light at viewpoints.
- Bring hiking shoes, water, snacks, and a light jacket - it gets cooler and windier higher up.

- Cash is useful for village shops, parking, and local products.
- In winter, check road conditions before leaving; chains may be required.
- Respect marked paths near waterfalls - rocks can be slippery after rain.

- Dojkinci
One of the best-known villages on Stara Planina - architecture, hospitality, starting point for hikes. Allow time for a walk through the village and views of surrounding peaks.
